11/25/2023 0 Comments Ventoy windows 10 not working![]() But now I have an old notebook (hp pavilion dv6) from 2011 which was shipped with Windows 7, where I only get a blinking cursor after selecting an operating system. Nothing makes it possible to boot pure UEFI ISO's in Ventoy on my x250. Ive installed latest ventoy on my usb stick. UPDATE: Downgraded my BIOS till 1.27 (the 2017 version) and Ventoy down to 1.0.67. Will post an update on this if I succeed (hopefully). If someone tries to solve this issue just like I'm trying (will probably downgrade the BIOS eventually), my UEFI BIOS Version is N10ET63W (1.42), the UEFI BIOS Date is (YYYY-MM-DD). We seriously need more bootloader freedom on computers, clearly the computer 'companies' are as always not doing their job they are getting paid for. Like everyone else said here when booting legacy all ISO's work just fine, Windows or Linux, normal boot or other methods. My USB is an MBR partitioned and Secure boot enabled one, but of course on my computers Secure Boot is disabled. Before that in UEFI only mode I was able to boot Linux ISO's in normal mode too, and Windows ISO's all worked fine whether wimboot or normal mode. This all happened after updating my BIOS after 2-3 years last week. ![]() When booting UEFI only, I can boot all Linux ISO's (only in grub2 mode), but WinPE and Windows based ones are not working in normal, wimboot or memdisk mode. I am running numerous versions of Linux on Desktops and Laptop and some of them are very rough around the edges.I have the same issue many described here, boot process hangs after install block io protocol XXXXXXXX. WINDOWS is not HORRIFIC it has actually come a Long way with WIN10 but like any OS it has a few problems but Linux isn't perfect and there are numerous Distro's on DISTROWATCH that shouldn't be out there. I had tried using taskmanager BUT COULDN,T FIND A LINK TO THE ISO that"s why i did a system restore. While I agree with the Comments that WINDOWS was a PROBLEM with the ISO it was not easy to use TASKMANAGER to find how the TRISQUEL ISO was being accessed within the DownLoad Folder. The existing Distro's that work are EMMABUNTUS de4 i686 Strangely enough VENTOY works well with other Distro's that are loaded on the Original USB Stick. As suggested it appears that the problem was Ventoy Software in this case. As suggested I loaded the ISO using Balena Etcher onto another USB Stick instead of using Ventoy 1.0.64 and Trisquel is now working and this REPLY is submitted via TRISQUEL off my Laptop via USB stick. INFORMATION SUPPLIED FOR YOUR USE IN CASE YOU WANT TO DO SOME DEBUGGING. I also noticed that the Laptop was running slower with normal tasks while the ISO was sitting in Downloads. It looks like WIN10 and the ISO system were interacting even though the ISO wasn't installed or being used by the laptop. Laptop used was an ASUS Intel Core I7 2.2Ghz,RAM 16Gb WIN 10 version 21H2,build 19044.1503 ![]() I ended up doing a "SYSTEM RESTORE" on WIN10 laptop and then was able to delete the ISO normally from the Laptop ? WIN10 problem afterwards with the ISO as well, I tried to delete the ISO from WIN10 Downloads Folder and WINDOWS would not allow the ISO to be deleted because it said it was "active in System" ? then powered down the laptop and rebooted with the same result. I was using an AMD 8150 eight Core CPU at 3.6ghz The TRISQUEL startup screen did a Disc Check and there were no defects. (which is being used to boot other Distro’s ok) I was using the Supplied ISO via a USB Stick running VENTOY configured stick. I was trying to do a test run with TRISQUEL and got the errors above. usb 10-2: Fatal- failed to load firmware 0000:07:00.0: missing free firmware (Non Free firmware Loading is disabled) I was not able to fully boot thru via the Live Disc with the result listed below. In case you want some failure data the following data is supplied.
